A battle against the elements
The Jubilee Course is the third championship course at the Home of Golf. Opened in 1897, and originally designed for ladies and children, the course underwent a major redesign in 1988 and is now widely recognised as being the most challenging of all the courses on the St Andrews Links.
The Jubilee stands on a narrow strip of land, wedged between the New Course and the West Sands of St Andrews Bay, and is a traditional out and back links layout. Its position on the point of the Eden estuary makes the Jubilee the most exposed to the elements of all of the St Andrews courses adding further to the challenge. The closing stretch features a succession of challenging par 4’s where holding a score is as tough as it gets.
The Jubilee shares the same high quality greens complexes and bunkering of its adjoining neighbours. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy off the tee, whilst the rough is difficult without being too punitive – a perfect balance of challenge and forgiveness providing a very enjoyable golfing experience.
