Scotland’s Golf Coast
Located at the beginning of what is often referred to as ‘Scotland’s Golf Coast’ in East Lothian, Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is a stunning example of architects James Briad’s finest work.
Founded in 1774, Royal Musselburgh is the sixth oldest golf club in the world. Located in Prestonpans, just south of Edinburgh, the course is laid out on elevated ground overlooking the Firth of Forth.
Royal Musselburgh is a relatively short parkland course measuring 6254 yards, with only four Par 4’s over 400 yards and one par 5 at 477 yards making greens in regulation very achievable for the majority of players. Distance is not a main consideration at Royal Musselburgh – precision off the tee and accuracy of approach shots will very much shape your score. Royal Musselburgh is a golf course renowned for its magnificent greens and well groomed fairways.
For golf historians, the baronial clubhouse – the Prestongrange House – contains plenty of golfing memorabilia and is without doubt one of the most impressive clubhouses in Scotland.
