Scottish golf at its best

Founded in 1894 and designed by Old Tom Morris, Luffness New Golf Club offers a challenging experience in a most traditional setting – it’s Scottish golf at its best.

A challenging links course, Luffness offers a true test of golf without being the longest of courses. The course can be hard – mighty hard – when the wind blows down the Firth of Forth and the rough is thick enough to engulf any errant shot. The course is beautifully maintained with well manicured fairways; bunkers are distinctive and well placed to severely penalise those who cannot get the ball in the air and the greens are small but true and are always in excellent condition.

Luffness New is underrated and certainly overshadowed by its near neighbours, Muirfield, Gullane and North Berwick but it is a worthy addition to any trip to this area.
