St Andrews Golf Tour

The St Andrews Swing

St Andrews – What can we say? The ‘Home of Golf’; the Birthplace of our great game – and the home of The Links Connection. St Andrews is iconic and recognised and promoted across the globe with the renowned Swilken Bridge, The R&A Clubhouse and the ‘Road Hole’ bunker… and yet for all this it still remains a public golf course!

“I could take everything out of my life except my experiences at St Andrews and I would still have a rich, full life.” – Bobby Jones

St Andrews Swing Accommodation

St Andrews is a University town – it was established in 1413 – but it is also a Mecca for golfers all over the world, so there is an abundance of accommodation to suit the needs and aspirations of every visitor.

Here at The Links Connection we select the best for you to choose from.

Old Course Hotel

Located on the 17th fairway of the Old Course this 5 star hotel and Spa is synonymous with St Andrews.

Fairmont Hotel

This 5 star hotel and spa is located a few minutes drive from St Andrews but has the advantage of its own golf courses. Perfect for a quick 9 holes or a full day of golf, it offers wonderful views across the bay to St Andrews and beyond.

Hotel Du Vin

The Hotel Du Vin is a boutique style hotel located right on the Scores. With many rooms looking out to sea it’s only an 8 iron to the first tee of the Old Course!

Number 1 Apartments

These new apartments have been an excellent addition to accommodation options right in the centre of town. Mostly 2 bed / 2 bath, with a modern kitchen and sitting area, they are in prime position to allow access to the bars and restaurants of St Andrews.

Sample Itinerary

Here at The Links Connection we will always work with you at the planning stage before we arrive at your final itinerary. We know that by exploring your options and making suggestions or listening to your thoughts, we will end up with a week of golf and activities that meet your needs.

However the sample itinerary for a week in St Andrews, shown below, will give you some idea of what your week with us might look like.

Day 1 – on arrival

We will be at the airport to meet you, take care of your luggage and whisk you to your hotel. On arrival, if time permits, we will give you an orientation and familiarisation tour of the town and the courses before you settle into your accommodation and suggest dinner options.

Day 2 – jubilee course, St Andrews

Your first round of golf. We will collect you and deliver you to the course, stay with you while you warm up and see you tee off on the first. We will take photographs and be there to see you return on the 18th hole.

Day 3 – championship course, Carnoustie

We will collect you from your accommodation and drive 30 minutes to Carnoustie where you can take advantage of their wonderful, indoor, driving range and warm up facilities at Carnoustie Golf Course. Maybe you’ll want food from The Rookery before you take on the challenges of the championship course.

Day 4 – sightseeing, Edinburgh

Take a day off from golf and don’t miss a day in Edinburgh, Scotlands capital city only 45 minutes from St Andrews. Enjoy The Castle, Palace of Holyrood, St Giles Cathedral and high end shopping for those left at home!

Day 5 – kingsbarns

For many, Kingsbarns course is a highlight of their tour. It may not have the history of the St Andrews Old Course, but the views are spectacular and the course is regarded as being in the top 10 in the world.

Day 6 – the old course / the castle course, st andrews

Playing The Old Course will be subject to availability but either way you will enjoy your golf. As an alternative to the Old, The Castle course is the newest one in St Andrews, and offers challenging golf in a fabulous setting with views back towards the town that will have you reaching for your camera.

Day 7 – the new course, st andrews

For many, The New Course is every bit as good as The Old – and set out by Old Tom Morris in 1895 it’s hardly new! For much of the time it runs parallel to the Old and for the local golfers it’s up there with the best.

Day 8 – homeward bound

We will collect you and transfer you to the airport, stay with you through check in and see you off safely.

More Golf Courses to Explore…

While the ‘Old Course’ is known and revered throughout the world and the game of golf, St Andrews Links is home to a total of 7 courses with the New Course (founded in 1895!!) The Jubilee Course, The Eden and Strathtyrum Courses and the newest addition, the Castle Course, all offering an outstanding golfing experience.

In addition there are numerous other courses in the area which we would recommend:

• Crail Golfing Society
• Elie Golf Club
• Lundin Links Golf Club
• Monifieth Golf Club
• Panmure Golf Club
• Scotscraig Golf Club
• The Dukes Course, St Andrews

Hidden Gems

Your golfing experience can be extended to play a range of Scotland’s ‘hidden gems’ or by travelling to the north east coast to play Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen and Trump International.
