Edinburgh and Lothian Golf Tour

The Edinburgh and Lothian Swing

Visitors to Scotland will undoubtedly have a visit to Edinburgh on their wish list.  The nation’s capital, with its majestic Castle overlooking the historic city, has much to offer and is a must for all visitors to our country.

Courses

Edinburgh and Lothians offer some of the most famous and challenging golf courses in the country and our ‘East Coast Swings’ allows for a truly memorable trip embracing the country’s history and culture with some outstanding golf.

More Golf Courses to Explore…

In addition, Edinburgh and East Lothian offer a number of other courses which we can access to enhance your experience and enjoyment when visiting this area, such as:

• Archerfield
• Renaissance
• Kilspindie

Hidden Gems

Your golfing experience can be extended to play a range of Scotland’s ‘hidden gems’ or by travelling to the north east coast to play Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen and Trump International.

Edinburgh and the East Swing Accommodation

The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh has 4 million visitors every year so hotels are in high demand.
We have chosen hotels both in the city and on the Lothian coast near the courses for you to choose from – but nothing is set or fixed and there are many others available.

Greywalls, Gullane

With its Chez Roux restaurant, Greywalls is a classic and sumptuous hotel perfectly located for the very best of courses in the East Lothian swing. An Edwardian Manor House, it offers manicured gardens and 23 bedrooms all beautifully appointed.

Nether Abbey Hotel

Nether Abbey is centrally located in the town of North Berwick. The town has not one but two wonderful links courses, and Nether Abbey offers well appointed bedrooms and a restaurant very popular with locals and visitors alike.

Edinburgh City

For many of our overseas visitors, blending the best of golf with a short  stay in Edinburgh city is something they’d like to do.

The city has so many great hotels to choose from and we can certainly find you the hotel that suits your style and your budget.

Both the Scotsman and The Balmoral (subject to availability) are landmarks in the city and are perfectly located as a base for seeing historic Edinburgh.

Sample Itinerary

Here at The Links Connection we will always work with you at the planning stage before we arrive at your final itinerary. We know that by exploring your options and making suggestions or listening to your thoughts, we will end up with a week of golf and activities that meet your needs.

However the sample itinerary for a week in East Lothian, shown below, will give you some idea of what your week with us might look like.

Day 1 – on arrival

We will be at the airport to meet you, take care of your luggage and drive you to your hotel. North Berwick offers a great base with a small town feel, good dining options and easy access to wonderful courses

On arrival, if time permits, we will give you an orientation and familiarisation tour of the town and the courses before you settle into your accommodation and suggest dinner options.

Day 2 – North Berwick Championship course

Set in the heart of town this course started in 1832 and offers breathtaking views from every tee. It’s. Popular choice for golfers from all over the world and like its neighbours it will book out quickly.

Day 3 – Gullane

Just half an hour up the coast you’ll find Gullane. With three courses, it offers a perfect chance to play 36 holes in a day but be warned – Gullane Number One is a tough track in a spectacular setting.

Day 4 – sightseeing, Edinburgh

Take a day off from golf and don’t miss a day in Edinburgh, Scotlands capital city only 30 minutes by train right into the heart of the city. Enjoy The Castle, Palace of Holyrood, St Giles Cathedral and high end shopping for those left at home!

Day 5 – Luffness New Golf Club

Luffness New Golf Club is primarily a golf club run for its members, but it does offer a warm welcome to visitors.

Designed by Old Tom Morris the ‘New’ course opened in 1894. In keeping with the other Links courses in the area, it offers wonderful views of the Firth of Forth, over a testing track.

Day 6/7 – Take your pick

At this point you have options. Stay on in North Berwick to enjoy more golf – Gullane Number two or three? Dunbar? Haddington? In total on ‘Scotland’s Golf Coast’ there are 21 courses along a 30 mile stretch of coastline.

Alternatively, have a two night city break in Edinburgh or drive two hours north to St Andrews to pastures new.

Day 8 – homeward bound

We will collect you and transfer you to the airport, stay with you through check in and see you off safely.
